12-01-29 – I – I Think

I thought everything went well last night. I missed a couple of things. The first is this. You don’t necessarily always need to have your guard up. There are times when you are less likely to need. When you are sitting down at the table with your parents, you might not need to check every thought. When you are home alone, you might need to be a bit more careful.

When you are walking down the hallway at school and girls are walking by with tight shirts and short skirts, you may need to pay a bit more attention to your thoughts (and the floor).

That will make it a bit easier for you to catch your thoughts. Remember, don’t let the siegeworks make it to the top of the wall.

12-01-22 – I – I Need

So…for all of those out there who really think I am just a city slicker, this message will prove you wrong. One thing you definitely realize after listening to this message is that I know my way around the country.

I know all about …um…rodeos and…um…barrel…races…and stuff.

12-01-15 – I – I Grow

So…besides being mildly distracted by the fact that the Packers lost to the Giants on Sunday night, the service and message went well. There were a few things that I missed (just like the Packers’ receivers). I could have done much better with my delivery on several points as well.

One thing I didn’t deliver so well, is how much our self-control is really like our muscles. They get worn down over time (I mentioned that, but not how groundbreaking and earthshattering that discovery is).

This should change how we treat certain things we may be attempting to implement or get rid of in our lives. Late in the evening, after we are worn down from the long day is not the time to try to be self-disciplined. We are freshest in the morning.

12-01-08 – I Intro

Sorry we are just getting this up now. We had some malfunctions with the recording computer. The bad news…It took a week to upload this message. The good news…IT WAS RECORDED! For a while, we weren’t too sure on that front.

Anyways, it was a good beginning to what we hope will be a GREAT series. It took more up-front setup than the “Ghostbusters” series. The name alone could have used a bit more explanation.

We truly believe that this series may be one of the most important series we do in the youth ministry. After listening to the message you will understand why.

11-12-04 – Advent – The Dark

Thus begins our two week mini-series. This one seemed like a bit of a downer. Sorry about that. It is just really important to realize the need for Jesus before we can look forward to Jesus coming. The service went well (of course besides the fact that the message was extremely depressing).

11-11-20 – Ghostbusters – Zombies

Obviously, zombies was about more than just zombies. It was really about the End Times and the return of Jesus Christ. Listen to the message if you want to know more.

Ghostbusters is OVER! You will still see the artwork throughout the next month. We will not be starting our new series until January 2012…

The series went well. It was received really well. I was actually a bit surprised. I guess our students were really interested in learning more about spiritual things. That is always nice to see.

11-11-13 – Ghostbusters – Satan

The service last night went a bit longer than it should have. The altar time was a great time in the presence of God. The message was rather straight-forward and relatively simple, but I do need to mention again that I stole most of the message outline from the NIVAC.

Jacob and Zac’s skit was actually a “dress-rehearsal” for this next Sunday morning. Sierra and Taylor’s skit was really well done. They nailed the parts, perhaps a little too well .

This series has been going really well! We only have a couple of weeks left and then we will move on to a new mini-series, so make sure to enjoy it while it lasts!

11-10-09 – Ghostbusters – Angels and Demons

All in all a GREAT service. I LOVED the new song that Makensie led during worship. There were no videos this week, so none are posted below.

The message was a little dry. I target the main points and the cards (at least the fronts) at the Middle Schoolers. It is difficult when you have such a large range of ages in the service to connect with everyone all of the time. What we tried to do was point the message at the a little older crowd and the main points at the younger crowd.

It is such a difficult subject anyways. You don’t want to focus too much on this topic because it isn’t as central to our faith as salvation or the Holy Spirit, but it is important to know. I hope we walked the line well.

This next week we are focusing on the Holy Spirit.
